A terrifying scene unfolded in the heart of New York City as police fatally shot a 49-year-old woman accused of going on a deadly stabbing spree in Times Square.
According to authorities, the chaotic incident began when the suspect attacked two pedestrians—a man and a woman—with a knife in a span of less than 30 seconds. Tragically, one of the victims later succumbed to their injuries, while the condition of the second victim remains undisclosed.
When NYPD officers rushed to the busy tourist hub, they found the attacker still clutching the weapon. Video footage of the tense standoff shows police repeatedly commanding the woman to drop her knife. Instead of complying, authorities say she threatened to murder the responding officers and aggressively advanced toward them.
Forced to take action, police opened fire, killing the suspect at the scene. As is standard protocol in all officer-involved shootings, the NYPD has launched a full investigation into the fatal encounter.
