Olivia Rodrigo is reflecting on love and friendship amid swirling rumors that she and Louis Partridge have ended their two-year romance.
In a new interview with Cosmopolitan, the 23-year-old singer shared what "phase of love" she's currently in, describing it as one centered on platonic bonds rather than romance.
"Oh my god. I'm in the most important phase," Rodrigo told her best friend and former Bizaardvark co-star Madison Hu. "The friendship love that I'm sitting right across from. Best friend, community love."
Adding a pragmatic note, she said, "Dating is just the cherry on top."
The Grammy winner, who previously dated Joshua Bassett from 2019 to 2020, also offered advice she wishes she'd learned sooner about relationships: "Patience. Things happen the way that they're supposed to happen. It's not supposed to be white-knuckle."
While Rodrigo did not directly address her current relationship status, she was recently spotted having dinner with Geese frontman Cameron Winter in Los Angeles on April 14. Reps for both did not respond to requests for comment at the time.
Rodrigo had previously alluded to her romance with the Enola Holmes actor, admitting she spent significant time in London while working on her upcoming album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. "I've found a lot of inspiration from being in London," she told British Vogue in March. "I've spent so much time here over the course of making this album."
Throughout their two-year relationship, Rodrigo and Partridge made a conscious effort to keep things private. "Olivia and I choose, or have been choosing, to not be so public," Partridge told Esquire U.K. last September. "I just have no doubt that we're both in a relationship for the right reason."
Neither party has officially confirmed a split, but the focus of Rodrigo's latest comments suggests she's currently cherishing the love of friends and community above all else.
