Olivia Wilde is setting the record straight: she is very much alive, and her recent red carpet appearance that sparked death rumors was just a camera trick gone wrong.
The actress appeared at the San Francisco International Film Festival on April 24 to promote her new movie "The Invite." Video from the event showed Wilde looking unusually gaunt, prompting some fans to joke she looked like a resurrected corpse or even Gollum from "Lord of the Rings."
Wilde addressed the speculation in a video posted to social media, laughing off the rumors. She explained that the cameraman used a fish-eye lens and she stood too close to it, which distorted her features and made her appear “super rough.” Her brother even teased her, asking if she wanted to address rumors that she was a "resurrected corpse."
While she didn't directly mention the Gollum comparisons, the social media post included a photo of the character.
"Don't Worry Darling, you're still our precious," Wilde playfully signed off.
