Olivia Wilde is brushing off the online chatter about her recent red carpet look. The actress took to Instagram Stories on May 3 to address a viral video from the San Francisco International Film Festival, which some users criticized as "startling."

In a video shared by her brother Charles Cockburn, Wilde responded to comments comparing her appearance to Gollum from The Lord of the Rings. "Listen, that is a fisheye lens," she explained. "And I admit, is that my best angle? Was that my best ever look? No, it's a startling image."

The Don't Worry Darling star, 42, laughed off the criticism, adding, "I don't know why I was so close to the camera. I didn't have to be. That's not the truth."

Driving her point home, she quipped, "I'm not dead." She also playfully wrote on screen, "Leave it to your little brother to give you the maximum amount of s--t."

Wilde's appearance at the festival featured a simple black skirt and white T-shirt, but the fisheye lens used in the interview may have distorted her features. Her reaction comes after a separate appearance with ex Jason Sudeikis, with whom she shares two children, that showed the former couple in friendly spirits.
