In a series of strategic moves, OpenAI has announced the expansion of ChatGPT advertisements to Free and Go tier users in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, while also acquiring Hiro Finance to bolster its personal financial planning tools.
The ad rollout marks OpenAI's first foray into advertising within ChatGPT, targeting users who do not pay for premium subscriptions. The company aims to generate revenue without compromising the core user experience.
Separately, OpenAI has acquired Hiro Finance, a fintech startup specializing in AI-driven personal finance management. The acquisition will enable OpenAI to integrate financial planning capabilities into ChatGPT, allowing users to manage budgets, track expenses, and receive personalized financial advice directly through the chatbot.
These developments come amid a period of rapid expansion for OpenAI, which has also launched GPT-Rosalind for life sciences and GPT-5.4-Cyber for defense, alongside the exit of three senior executives as the company shifts focus toward enterprise solutions.
