OpenAI Unveils GPT-5.5, Paving Way for All-in-One AI Platform

OpenAI has launched GPT-5.5, its latest AI model, which the company touts as its most capable and user-friendly yet. The new model delivers significant improvements across multiple domains, bringing the company closer to its vision of a unified "super app" that combines tools like ChatGPT, Codex, and browsing into a single platform.

In a press briefing, OpenAI President Greg Brockman described GPT-5.5 as a major step toward more intuitive and agentic computing. "This model is a real step forward towards the kind of computing that we expect in the future," he said, noting that it offers faster, sharper reasoning at a lower token cost compared to the previous version, GPT-5.4.

The release marks another milestone in OpenAI's strategy to consolidate its offerings into a multi-purpose application—a concept CEO Sam Altman and Brockman have discussed for months. The envisioned super app would seamlessly integrate conversational AI, coding assistance, and web browsing, aiming to be a one-stop shop for users.

GPT-5.5 is now available to developers and consumers through OpenAI's API and ChatGPT subscription tiers.
