The Palestinian Football Association (PFA) has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against a FIFA decision regarding Israel's place in international football.
The move comes amid ongoing disputes over the participation of Israeli teams, with Palestinian officials accusing Israel of violating FIFA statutes by including clubs based in occupied territories.
The appeal was confirmed on Tuesday, with the PFA seeking to overturn a FIFA ruling that allowed Israel to continue its membership without restrictions.
"We are taking this to CAS because we believe FIFA's decision does not align with its own rules," a PFA spokesperson said.
The case adds to tensions within football's governing body as the FIFA Congress approaches. Additionally, visa issues are reportedly affecting Palestinian and other delegations planning to attend the upcoming Congress in Bangkok.
The PFA initially submitted a motion to FIFA in 2023, calling for sanctions against Israel, including a ban on its clubs and national team. However, FIFA's legal review concluded that there was no basis for immediate action.
The CAS appeal is the latest chapter in a long-running campaign by Palestinian football officials to use sports bodies to highlight their political grievances.
