Patrick Schwarzenegger and Phoebe Dynevor to Lead Romantic Adaptation of Emily Henry's 'Beach Read'

Patrick Schwarzenegger and Phoebe Dynevor have officially signed on to star in the film adaptation of Emily Henry's bestselling novel Beach Read, bringing the beloved romantic story to the big screen.

Schwarzenegger confirmed his casting as Gus, a brooding dark fiction author, while Dynevor will play January, a romance novelist struggling with writer's block. The actors shared their excitement on social media, with Schwarzenegger posting on Instagram Stories: "I'm so excited for this!!! First - let me say thank you to @emilyhenrywrites for the opportunity! I will do everything possible to make the fans happy & proud and bring your brilliant writing to life."

"@patrickschwarzenegger blew me away in the room. I was so thrilled to watch him bring Gus to life," Dynevor wrote in her own Instagram Story. "We're giving this everything in the hopes of making @emilyhenrywrites and all the fans proud. Stay tuned!!"

The story follows two writers who become neighbors in a Michigan lake community and decide to swap genres to overcome creative stagnation, all while promising there will be no romantic entanglements between them. Yulin Kuang, who co-wrote the adaptation of Henry's People We Meet on Vacation, is set to write and direct the project.

Beach Read joins several other Emily Henry novels in development for screen adaptations, including Happy Place at Netflix and Book Lovers currently in production. No release date has been announced for the Beach Read film yet.
