The highly anticipated concert film capturing Geese frontman Cameron Winter, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, has officially locked in its world premiere. Cameron Winter At Carnegie Hall will debut at the New York Film Festival on October 1, with both the auteur and the rising musical star scheduled to attend.
The cinematic project chronicles Winter’s milestone December performance at New York's legendary Carnegie Hall. Captured partially on lush 35mm film—which will be the format of choice for the NYFF projection—the movie also features filmmaker Benny Safdie, who served as a co-producer and camera operator. Observant fans originally sparked rumors of the project when they spotted Anderson and Safdie filming the gig from the crowd, operating cameras during the track 'Nina + Field Of Cops.'
While Anderson has an extensive history of intertwining music and cinema—having helmed countless music videos and the acclaimed 2015 documentary Junun alongside Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood—this project officially marks the revered director's very first traditional concert film.
Fans looking to experience the audio standalone can look forward to the accompanying live album, Live At Carnegie Hall, slated for release on October 9. Following its prestigious festival debut, the film will hit select theaters across the United States for a special winter theatrical run.
