The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has proposed placing the eGovPH app under the management of a state-owned corporation. The recommendation aims to ensure long-term operational sustainability and improved governance of the digital platform, which consolidates various government services.
According to DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy, a government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) would be better positioned to handle the technical and administrative demands of the app, which has seen increased usage for transactions like tax filing and business registration.
The move is subject to legislative approval, but the DICT is pushing for a streamlined process to enhance citizen access to digital services. The eGovPH app currently offers over 200 government transactions and has millions of registered users.
