The Philippine independent film community is in mourning following the passing of acclaimed actress Sue Prado at the age of 44.
Her sister, May Shareen Prado, confirmed the news in a heartfelt Facebook post, announcing that Sue passed away on April 14. The specific cause of death was not disclosed.
“Our dearest Sue M. Prado has become a constant star in the night sky,” May Shareen wrote. “It is with profound pain that we share Sue’s passing. Sue brought light in anyone’s path throughout her life. A life lived for others, for the craft she nourished and for those who she loved most.”
She concluded her tribute with a request: “Please celebrate her in any way you know how, and honor her memory through kindness.”
Sue Prado was a mainstay at the prestigious Cinemalaya Film Festival, delivering powerful performances in numerous celebrated productions. Her notable filmography includes award-winning titles such as Oro, Barber's Tale, Thelma, and Dagsin, where her talent left a significant mark on the local cinema landscape.
