Philippine National Police Refutes Claims of Theft During E-Sabong Raid in Tondo

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has strongly denied allegations that its officers stole money during a raid on an illegal e-sabong (online cockfighting) operation in Tondo, Manila. The incident, which occurred earlier this week, has sparked controversy after reports emerged that a significant amount of cash was missing from the scene.

In a statement, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo clarified that the officers involved followed proper procedures and that no money was taken. "We categorically deny any accusations of theft or misconduct by our personnel," Fajardo said. "The operation was conducted lawfully, and all seized items were properly documented."

The raid, carried out by joint forces, targeted an e-sabong hub believed to be operating without a license. Authorities arrested several suspects and confiscated computers, mobile phones, and betting paraphernalia. However, allegations surfaced that a large sum of cash was unaccounted for after the operation.

Fajardo urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and assured that an internal investigation would be conducted to address the claims. "We are committed to transparency and will review the body cameras and other evidence to ensure the truth prevails," she added.

The PNP has also called on anyone with credible information to come forward to assist in the inquiry. Meanwhile, the suspects are facing charges related to illegal gambling and operating an unauthorized online betting platform.
