PHINMA Cagayan de Oro College is set to open a new campus in Butuan City, aiming to improve access to quality higher education in the Caraga region. The expansion is part of the institution’s broader mission to make education more affordable and relevant to the needs of students in Mindanao.
The new campus will offer a range of undergraduate programs tailored to local industry demands, including business, engineering, and information technology. It is expected to serve thousands of students from Butuan and nearby provinces, reducing the need for them to travel to Cagayan de Oro or other major cities.
Dr. Rodrigo Malibiran, president of PHINMA Cagayan de Oro College, said the move aligns with the Philippine government’s goals of expanding educational access and fostering regional development. “We believe that every Filipino deserves a chance at a quality education that leads to meaningful employment,” Malibiran stated.
Local officials welcomed the initiative, noting that it will create jobs and boost the local economy during construction and operations. The Butuan campus is scheduled to begin classes in the 2025-2026 academic year.
