After a sluggish first half that saw them trailing 58-45 at the break, Phoenix came out with renewed energy in the third quarter, outscoring Magnolia 34-20 to take a 79-78 lead heading into the final period. The Fuel Masters maintained their momentum in the fourth, using a balanced attack and stingy defense to hold off the Hotshots.
Import John Fields led the charge for Phoenix with 28 points and 15 rebounds, while local stars Matthew Wright and Calvin Abueva contributed 18 and 16 points, respectively. Magnolia's import Nick Rakocevic had a game-high 32 points, but it wasn't enough to prevent the loss.
