Florida authorities allege that rapper Lil Tjay instigated a violent confrontation that culminated in fellow artist Offset being shot by an associate.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Broward County Sheriff's Office, the incident unfolded around 7:22 PM ET on Monday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood. Police claim security footage shows Lil Tjay exiting his vehicle, identifying Offset, and directing members of his party to initiate a physical altercation with Offset's group.
"During the altercation, one of Lil Tjay's associates produced a firearm and discharged it, striking and injuring Offset," the police documents state.
Investigators further allege that Lil Tjay recorded the incident on his mobile phone. The brawl reportedly continued until law enforcement arrived on the scene.
Lil Tjay was subsequently arrested and booked into the Broward County Jail on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct-affray. He was released on Tuesday, and upon his release, he was captured on video referring to Offset as a "rat."
Offset remains hospitalized but was reportedly seen being wheeled outside in a hospital gown to smoke a cigarette on Tuesday morning, indicating he is in stable condition. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
