Spain's La Liga appears poised to claim the second additional spot, though Germany's Bundesliga could mount a late challenge after Bayern Munich's 2-1 win at Real Madrid on Tuesday. If the standings hold, it would mirror last season's outcome with England and Spain taking the extra berths.
The race for that coveted fifth position remains fiercely competitive. Liverpool currently occupies the spot with 49 points, but just seven points separate them from 13th-placed Bournemouth. Chelsea (48 points), Brentford (46), Everton (46), Fulham (44), Brighton (43), Sunderland (43), Newcastle (42), and Bournemouth (42) are all within striking distance.
An intriguing scenario could see the Premier League field six Champions League teams next season. If Aston Villa—currently fourth with 54 points—wins the Europa League but finishes outside the top four, they would qualify for the Champions League while preserving the fifth-place berth for another club.
