Los Angeles prosecutors have charged singer D4vd with murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas with a "sharp instrument," revealing gruesome new details in a case that could result in the death penalty.
According to charging documents released Monday, prosecutors allege D4vd murdered Rivas on April 23, 2025, then mutilated her body on May 5th. The documents claim Rivas's dismembered and decomposing body was stored in D4vd's Tesla for four months before being discovered.
"The state of the body — which was stuffed in two bags — when found made it difficult for the Medical Examiner to figure out the cause and manner of death," the documents state.
Prosecutors say Rivas went to D4vd's Hollywood Hills home in April 2025 and was never heard from again. The charging documents also reveal a disturbing timeline of alleged sexual abuse, claiming D4vd had a sexual relationship with Rivas beginning on her 13th birthday in September 2023 and continuing through at least September 2024.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman alleges D4vd killed Rivas when she threatened to expose their sexual relationship, stating the murder was committed "to preserve his career." The special circumstances listed in the charges include lying in wait, committing the crime for financial gain, and murdering a witness to an investigation.
D4vd faces charges of first-degree murder with special circumstances, mutilating a body, and lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14. The LAPD arrested D4vd last Thursday in what police described as a "huge show of force."
For their part, D4vd's attorneys maintain their client's innocence, telling reporters "he was not the cause of her death." The case continues to develop as both sides prepare for what promises to be a high-profile trial.
