PSG Defender Hakimi Sidelined for Weeks, to Miss Bayern Semifinal Return Leg

Paris Saint-Germain will be without right-back Achraf Hakimi for several weeks after he suffered a thigh injury during Tuesday's Champions League semifinal first leg against Bayern Munich. The Moroccan international, who played the entire match and set up Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's goal in PSG's 5-4 victory, has been ruled out of the return fixture in Munich on May 6.

"Having suffered a right thigh injury during the match against Bayern, Hakimi will remain in treatment for the next few weeks," PSG said in a statement.

Hakimi was substituted at halftime in PSG's 3-0 win over Angers last weekend but returned to the starting lineup against Bayern. In the closing stages of the first leg, he pulled up clutching his hamstring but stayed on after receiving treatment because PSG had already used all their substitutions.

The injury also raises questions about his availability for the upcoming World Cup, which begins in six weeks in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Hakimi has been a key figure for Luis Enrique's side, scoring the opening goal in last season's Champions League final as PSG beat Inter Milan 5-0 to become European champions for the first time. He also started every game for Morocco during their historic run to the 2022 World Cup semifinals.
