Joseph Baena is officially carrying the torch of his father's muscle-bound legacy. The 28-year-old son of Arnold Schwarzenegger made an unforgettable bodybuilding debut on March 28, dominating the stage at a fitness competition in Denver.
Competing at the NPC Natural Colorado State competition, Baena showcased a phenomenal physique that earned him first-place victories in three separate categories: the Men's Open Bodybuilding Heavy Weight Class, Men's Classic Physique—Novice, and Men's Classic Physique—True Novice. He also took home a second-place finish in the Men’s Classic Physique—Open Class C division.
Following the impressive sweep, Baena took to Instagram to celebrate. Sharing a carousel of photos of himself flexing and hitting classic stage poses, he captioned the triumphant moment simply: "Mission Accomplished!"
While it would be easy to chalk up his chiseled frame to the genetics of a seven-time Mr. Olympia and five-time Mr. Universe winner, Baena emphasizes that his success is the result of grueling, dedicated work. In the days leading up to the contest, he gave his followers a glimpse into his strict diet and prep regimen.
"I’ve come to realize that the consistency is really the key to getting lean and not losing muscle only a couple days away," Baena shared on social media, adding that establishing healthy habits was keeping him "feeling great" ahead of his debut.
The young athlete, whose mother is Mildred Baena, has previously opened up about the heavy expectations of carving out a fitness career in the shadow of the world's most famous bodybuilder. In a 2023 interview, he discussed the inevitable comparisons and skepticism that come with having a high-profile parent.
"People always discredit them, say, 'You only got that because of your parents...'" he explained at the time. "It's hard, but it's something that you have to live with. Know within yourself that if you're putting in the work and you're actually doing it, then none of that should matter."
With three first-place trophies now under his belt, Baena has certainly proven he is putting in the work.
