Punjab Kings Smash T20 Record with Historic 265-Run Chase Against Delhi Capitals

In a breathtaking display of power-hitting, Punjab Kings pulled off the highest successful run-chase in T20 history, defeating Delhi Capitals by six wickets in the Indian Premier League. Chasing a daunting 265, Punjab reached the target with seven balls to spare at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

KL Rahul had earlier smashed an unbeaten 152 off 67 balls for Delhi—the highest score by an Indian in IPL history—as the Capitals posted 264-2. But Punjab's openers, Prabhsimran Singh (76 off 26) and Priyansh Arya (43 off 17), launched a furious assault, posting 116-0 in the powerplay—the second-highest in IPL history.

Captain Shreyas Iyer then anchored the chase with an unbeaten 71 off 36 balls, benefiting from two dropped catches, to seal victory. The match was briefly paused after Delhi fast bowler Lungi Ngidi suffered a head injury while attempting a catch; he was taken to hospital but later reported stable.

Punjab's win surpasses their own previous record chase of 262 against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024. The result keeps Punjab top of the table with 13 points from seven matches, while Delhi languish in sixth place.
