Queens of the Stone Age brought former bassist Nick Oliveri back onstage Friday night (April 24) at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center in California, marking their first live performance together since 2014.
Oliveri, who was a key member from 1998 to 2004 and played on classic albums Rated R and Songs for the Deaf, joined the band for a rendition of Rated R track 'Auto Pilot'. Frontman Josh Homme introduced him as "one of the people that I love dearly."
This reunion comes 12 years after Oliveri's last guest appearance with the band. He was fired in 2004 amid reports of aggressive behavior toward fans and later allegations of domestic abuse. However, he previously contributed backing vocals to the 2013 song 'If I Had a Tail' and performed with them in Portland in 2014.
Fan-captured footage from the show shows Oliveri adding vocals to 'Auto Pilot', much to the delight of the crowd.
