Quincy Jones III Steps Up as Estate Executor After Siblings Decline Role

Quincy Jones III has been appointed as the executor of his late father's estate, following the refusal of his sister Rashida Jones and uncle Richard Jones to take on the responsibility. The decision, documented in a recent court filing, reveals that the legendary musician's first choice for executor was his brother Richard, who ultimately declined the role.

According to the filing, Jones' second preference was for either Quincy III or Rashida to assume the position. Quincy III accepted the responsibility, while Rashida opted not to serve.

The next court hearing regarding the estate is scheduled for May 11. Quincy Jones, the iconic producer and composer, passed away in 2024 at age 91 after battling pancreatic cancer. Following his death, Rashida Jones publicly honored her father, describing him as a "genius" in a heartfelt tribute.

In related estate matters, Jones' Bel Air mansion was listed for $60 million last spring. The property's price has since been reduced to $40 million, but remains unsold on the Los Angeles real estate market.
