Rain-Soaked Namibia Series Continues to Haunt Scotland in Narrow Defeat to Oman

Scotland's challenging tour of Namibia took another frustrating turn as they fell to a 12-run defeat against Oman in a rain-affected match in Windhoek.

Persistent bad weather has plagued the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 Tri-Series, with Scotland's first scheduled match against Oman abandoned without a ball bowled last Thursday, followed by a rain-interrupted game against Namibia on Monday.

When conditions finally allowed play on Wednesday, the contest was reduced to 20 overs per side. Oman capitalized on their opportunity, with captain Jatinder Singh (51) and Ashish Odedara (43) powering their team to 100 without loss at the halfway mark.

Oman win by 12 runs

Despite a middle-overs fightback from Scotland's bowlers—including two wickets each from Sayfaan Sharif, Michael Leask, and Jack Jarvis—Oman posted a competitive 163-7, boosted by Shakeel Ahmed's late cameo of 23 not out.

Scotland's chase never found consistent momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals. Brandon McMullen provided brief fireworks with 22 runs from just 9 balls, but only wicketkeeper Matthew Cross (24) managed to pass twenty as the team finished on 151-9.

The result leaves Scotland second in the eight-team World Cup League Two table, though they've played three more matches than leaders USA, who hold a four-point advantage. Oman climb to third, just three points behind Scotland with four games in hand.

Oman will face Namibia again on Friday, while Scotland's final match of the series comes against the hosts on Sunday as they seek to salvage their rain-disrupted tour.
