Rangers Edge Past Montrose to Set Up Old Firm Cup Final Showdown

Holders Rangers secured their place in the Women's Scottish Cup final with a 2-0 victory over Montrose at Hampden, setting up a fourth consecutive Old Firm showdown against Celtic on 31 May.

After a goalless first half where Montrose frustrated the favourites, Rangers broke the deadlock in the 51st minute. Katie Wilkinson, introduced at half-time, headed home a corner from Jodi McLeary to put the holders ahead.

Montrose continued to battle but failed to create clear chances, with Demi Taylor's long-range effort comfortably saved by goalkeeper Jenna Fife. Rangers pushed for a second goal, with Calliste Brookshire hitting the crossbar before Wilkinson sealed the win with a penalty in stoppage time after Laura Berry was fouled by substitute Erin Henderson.

Rangers have won the trophy for the past two seasons, beating Glasgow City in 2025 and Hearts in 2024. They now aim for a third consecutive triumph against Old Firm rivals Celtic.

Rangers head coach Leanne Crichton: "Tough game, we always knew it would be. Montrose are a tough nut to crack. I was really disappointed with the collective [in the first half]... If you don't want to work hard and track back, and look like you're hungry to win this kind of game, we won't tolerate that."

Montrose manager Craig Feroz: "First half we were excellent... Our shape was excellent, the fans were giving Rangers a bit of stick because we were closing them down well. I'm really, really proud of them."
