Rapper Future Faces Legal Battle as Ex Files Paternity Suit Over 9-Year-Old Son

Grammy-winning rapper Future is embroiled in a legal dispute after his former partner, Layla Sanad, filed a paternity lawsuit seeking child support for their 9-year-old son.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Sanad initiated the action in a Florida court, aiming to legally establish Future's paternity and secure a child support order. She claims the musician is the father of her son, identified by the initials K.W., who was born in 2017.

"Layla said Future admitted to her he's the father," the documents state. She is requesting not only ongoing support but also two years of retroactive payments.

In response, Future filed a motion in January 2026 asking the Florida court to dismiss the case, arguing that Arizona would be a more appropriate venue since both Sanad and the child reside there. He noted that he has already initiated separate legal proceedings in Arizona.

In those Arizona filings, Future acknowledged paternity of a son named Kash Wilburn and revealed he has been voluntarily providing $3,500 monthly in child support.

The rapper, known for hits like "Mask Off" and "Life Is Good," is reportedly the father of at least seven children, including a son with singer Ciara. The court has yet to rule on Future's request to transfer the Florida case.
