In a surprising twist in the Los Angeles mayoral race, reality TV star Spencer Pratt has reportedly raised more campaign funds than incumbent Mayor Karen Bass. According to the Los Angeles Times, Pratt has collected nearly $540,000 since announcing his candidacy in January, edging out Bass's total of just under $495,000.
Pratt, best known for his role on "The Hills," has garnered support from several Hollywood figures, including producer Jeff Jenkins and singer Katharine McPhee, as reported by People magazine. The donations reflect a wave of discontent with the current administration's handling of the January 2025 wildfires, which Pratt has publicly criticized.
In a statement, Pratt said he never intended to run for office but felt he had "no choice" given the city's management. He has vowed to make Los Angeles safe again, drawing on his personal connection to the city where he grew up. Bass has denied accusations of negligence regarding the wildfire response.
