Dolly Martinez, who shared her personal health struggles with a national audience on TLC's documentary series "My 600-Lb. Life," has passed away at the age of 30.
Her sister, Lindsey, announced the tragic news in a heartfelt social media tribute over the weekend, describing Dolly as a person whose vibrant spirit could instantly uplift those around her.
"She had the brightest personality and could light up any room with her laughter and kindness," Lindsey wrote. "We are heartbroken but find comfort knowing she is now reunited with our father. Rest peacefully... you will always be loved, always be missed, and never forgotten."
The family has not disclosed a cause of death at this time.
Martinez appeared in the tenth season of the popular reality program, which chronicles individuals with extreme obesity as they work with a surgeon to pursue weight-loss surgery. At the beginning of her documented journey, she weighed 593 pounds, required supplemental oxygen, and needed help with basic daily activities.
In an effort to qualify for life-changing bariatric surgery, she relocated from Fort Worth to Houston to be closer to her medical team. While she successfully lost approximately 40 pounds during her time on the show, she did not receive approval for the surgical procedure by the episode's conclusion.
Her story highlighted the profound challenges of food addiction and mental health, resonating with viewers who followed her quest for a healthier future.
