Dave Mason, the influential British rock musician who co-founded the band Traffic and wrote the classic song "Feelin' Alright?," has passed away at the age of 79.

Mason's musical legacy extends far beyond his work with Traffic, as he collaborated with some of the biggest names in rock history throughout his career. He performed and recorded with legendary artists including The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, and George Harrison.

His song "Feelin' Alright?" became one of his most enduring compositions, famously covered by Joe Cocker in 1969 and later by numerous other artists. Mason's own recording of "Only You Know and I Know" also became a signature track that showcased his distinctive vocal and guitar style.

"Mason's contributions to rock music spanned decades and genres, leaving an indelible mark on the sound of the late 1960s and beyond," noted one music historian.

As a founding member of Traffic alongside Steve Winwood, Mason helped shape the band's eclectic sound that blended rock, folk, jazz, and psychedelic elements. His guitar work and songwriting were integral to the group's early success before he embarked on a solo career that continued to showcase his musical versatility.

Throughout his life, Mason remained an active performer, continuing to tour and record new material while his classic songs maintained their popularity across generations of music fans.
