Sabalenka Outlasts Osaka in Three-Set Madrid Thriller

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka rallied from a set and a break down to defeat Naomi Osaka 6-7 (1-7), 6-3, 6-2 in the fourth round of the Madrid Open, extending her winning streak to 15 matches.

The four-time Grand Slam champion, who hasn't lost in Madrid since 2023, faced a stiff challenge from Osaka, who came out firing and took the first-set tiebreak decisively. Osaka then broke Sabalenka early in the second set, but the Belarusian immediately broke back and never looked back, sweeping the final two sets.

"Naomi played incredible tennis," Sabalenka said after the match. "I'm happy she brought that fight. I had to level up my game."

In other action, third seed Coco Gauff squandered a 4-1 lead in the final set and lost to Czech teenager Linda Noskova 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (6). Noskova will face Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, who beat Caty McNally 6-2, 6-3.

Sabalenka next faces American Hailey Baptiste, whom she defeated in Miami en route to the title last month.
