Salah's Anfield Farewell? Slot Hints at Possible Injury Exit

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has cast doubt on Mohamed Salah's return this season, stating the club must 'wait and see' the severity of the hamstring injury the Egyptian star suffered during Saturday's win over Crystal Palace.

Salah, 33, was substituted in the 59th minute after pulling up clutching his left leg. He walked off slowly, pausing to applaud all sides of Anfield—a gesture that fueled speculation this could be his final home appearance for the Reds.

"It's too early to say but we all know Mo and how hard it is for him to leave the pitch," Slot told Match of the Day. "For Mo to leave the pitch, it shows you something but we have to wait and see how bad it is."

The Egyptian forward announced last month that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, ending a legendary eight-year spell. With only three Premier League games remaining—away to Manchester United, home to Chelsea, and away to Aston Villa, before the season finale against Brentford on May 24—any significant injury could mean Salah has already played his last game for the club.

Slot acknowledged that the emotional weight of the moment likely played a part in Salah's slow exit. "My honest answer is yes, the way he came off," he told Sky Sports. "It went through his mind because there are only a few weeks to go but we are hoping he plays for us again."

Salah has scored 257 goals in 435 appearances for Liverpool, placing him third on the club's all-time scoring list behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt. He has been instrumental in winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup, and multiple other trophies.

The injury would likely rule Salah out of the crucial trip to Old Trafford next Sunday, where he has historically thrived with 16 goals in 18 appearances against Manchester United.
