As the federal government grappled with a shutdown, Senator Lindsey Graham was spotted taking a break from the legislative gridlock to share a meal with Mickey Mouse. The South Carolina lawmaker was seen enjoying breakfast on Sunday at Disney World's famous Contemporary Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Graham was dining at Chef Mickey's, a popular buffet where beloved Disney characters mingle with guests. According to onlookers, restaurant staff discreetly seated the senator at a table in the back. He was seen navigating the buffet line before sitting down to eat with a younger woman and a child. Eyewitnesses reported that the lawmaker appeared relaxed and in high spirits during the character dining experience.
Responding to the optics of his theme park excursion during a federal funding crisis, Graham provided a statement clarifying his weekend itinerary. The senator explained that his trip to the Sunshine State originally centered around high-level political discussions.
"I was invited to a meeting in South Florida on Friday with Trump official Steve Witkoff to talk about the possibility of normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel," Graham stated. "I went to Orlando to meet friends after. I'm already back in South Carolina."
Despite the criticism surrounding his timing, Graham defended his legislative record regarding the shutdown, pointing out his repeated votes in favor of funding measures prior to his brief weekend getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth.
