A new report from the Veteran Tickets Foundation highlights the power of shared live experiences in helping people—especially veterans, first responders, and federal employees—recover from sustained stress. According to the foundation's Chief Strategy Officer, Steve Weintraub, when formal support systems are slow or inconsistent, communal events can provide a critical reset.

Weintraub told Federal News Network that attending events together, from concerts to sports games, fosters connection and reduces isolation. The foundation's data shows that participants often report improved mood and a renewed sense of purpose after shared experiences.

"It's not just about the event itself—it's about being with others who understand what you've been through," Weintraub said. "That shared understanding is powerful."

The findings come as many federal employees and first responders face prolonged stress due to high workloads and organizational changes. The report suggests that inexpensive, community-based interventions could complement formal mental health resources.
