In an exclusive interview, Sheinelle Jones opened up about the deep bond she shares with her Today co-stars, especially during the most challenging time of her life—her husband Uche Ojeh's 18-month battle with glioblastoma before his death in May 2025.
"When my husband was sick, they were my family," Sheinelle said. "Al was bringing breakfast sandwiches into hospice for us, Savannah was right with us after the first surgery."
She emphasized that the connection viewers see on screen is genuine: "It's not just pretend."
Beyond the cameras, Sheinelle noted, the support was constant and unseen. "Nobody knew what I was going through—they all knew. Every day I was never alone. They were always there helping the kids, helping me with dinner."
Sheinelle, 48, is also grateful for the warmth from viewers following the release of her book, Through Mom's Eyes: Simple Wisdom From Mothers Who Raised Extraordinary Humans, which hit shelves on April 14. The response has exceeded her "wildest dreams."
"I have been in every city, and people write cards and letters," she said. "Reading some of the letters allowed me to receive. Whatever the strength is that I'm exuding, they're giving it back to me."
Ultimately, Sheinelle hopes the book fosters connection: "I just want whoever's reading it to not feel alone."
