In a surprising turn of events, Shiloh Jolie, the 19-year-old daughter of Hollywood icons Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, recently made her music video debut in K-pop star Dayoung's "What's a Girl to Do"—and she did it completely under the radar.
Starship Entertainment, the management company behind Dayoung, revealed they were unaware of Shiloh's celebrity lineage until after filming wrapped. The company held open auditions in the United States to cast performers for the video, which was released on April 7.
"We held an open audition in the United States to cast performers for Dayoung's music video. Among those who took part were several performers affiliated with a dance crew called 'Culture,'" a Starship Entertainment representative stated. "Shiloh was selected in the final round and ended up joining Dayoung's music video. Even after filming, we had no idea she was the child of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and only found out by chance quite recently."
Shiloh managed to keep her identity hidden by auditioning under the stage name "Shi," which appears in the video's closing credits. This isn't the first time she has used an alternative name; last year, she legally dropped "Pitt" from her surname and now goes by Shiloh Jolie.
Her siblings have also made similar name adjustments. Her brother Maddox recently dropped "Pitt" from his professional credits, while her sister Vivienne was credited as Vivienne Jolie in a Broadway playbill. Shiloh's covert casting highlights her desire to establish her own artistic path, separate from her parents' towering legacy in the entertainment industry.
