Former U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema is no longer involved with a married man, as her boyfriend Matthew Ammel's divorce has been finalized. Court records obtained by TMZ show that a North Carolina judge granted Ammel an "absolute divorce" from his ex-wife, Heather Ammel, on March 30, 2026.
The ruling comes months after Matthew filed for divorce in January 2026. The couple, who married in 2010, share three children. Matthew is listed as an Arizona resident, and public records link him and Sinema to the same $2 million home in the state.
Heather Ammel previously sued Sinema, accusing her of breaking up their marriage. Sinema admitted to having an affair with Matthew but sought to have the lawsuit dismissed, arguing she never slept with him in North Carolina—the jurisdiction where the suit was filed. She acknowledged the relationship occurred in other states. The legal battle remains ongoing.
