Sinner's Madrid Triumph Sets Unprecedented Masters Record

Jannik Sinner has carved his name into tennis history by becoming the first man to win five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles, defeating Alexander Zverev in straight sets at the Madrid Open.

The Italian world number one dominated the final 6-1, 6-2 in just 58 minutes, extending his winning streak to 23 matches. Sinner, 24, has now captured the opening three Masters events of the season—Indian Wells, Miami, and Monte Carlo—along with the Paris Masters five months ago.

"There is a lot of work behind it, a lot of dedication and sacrifice I put in every day," Sinner said. "At some point, results will decline, which is normal. I'm happy I've continued to believe in myself."

The record surpasses previous achievements by Novak Djokovic, who won four consecutive Masters on three occasions, and Rafael Nadal, who managed four straight in 2013. Djokovic did win five trophies in a row twice, but with gaps in Monte Carlo or Madrid during those runs.

Sinner displayed flawless tennis against Zverev, breaking the German four times without facing a single break point. He surged to a 5-0 lead in the first set and never looked back, converting all four break points earned.

With the French Open on the horizon, Sinner is now a heavy favorite. He reached the final last year, losing a five-set thriller to Carlos Alcaraz. A victory at Roland Garros would complete a career Grand Slam.

The win also sets up a potential career 'Golden Masters'—winning all nine Masters titles—should Sinner triumph in Rome next week.
