Liverpool manager Arne Slot has hit out at claims that his side feigns injuries, following a controversial incident in their 3-1 Premier League win over Crystal Palace at Anfield.
Slot criticized referee Chris Kavanagh for failing to stop play when Palace goalkeeper Freddie Woodman went down injured, which led to a goal for the visitors. The Dutchman insisted his team does not engage in simulation.
"We are not a team that pretends to be injured," Slot said in his post-match interview. "We always try to play fair, but today the referee made a decision that cost us."
The incident occurred midway through the first half when Woodman received treatment after a collision. Despite the goalkeeper being on the ground, the referee allowed play to continue, and Palace capitalized to equalize.
Liverpool eventually secured victory thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and a late strike from Darwin Nunez. The win keeps them in contention for a top-four finish.
Slot added, "I'm proud of the character my players showed to come back and win. But the injury situation needs to be handled better by officials."
