Soccer star Jorginho has publicly addressed a recent incident involving his stepdaughter Ada Law, clarifying that what initially appeared to be a confrontation orchestrated by musician Chappell Roan was actually a misunderstanding.

In a statement shared on April 13, Jorginho explained his initial reaction to reports that his 11-year-old stepdaughter and wife Catherine Harding had been approached by a security guard while having breakfast at a hotel. "I made my initial statement in the heat of the moment, after hearing that my child and wife had been approached by an adult male security guard in an intimidating way," he wrote. "I reacted as any father would. My priority is, and always will be, protecting my family."

However, after further investigation and communication with Chappell Roan's team, Jorginho acknowledged that his understanding of the situation had evolved. "Chappell Roan made a public statement, reached out privately to Catherine, and our teams also spoke directly," he explained. "It became clear that she had no knowledge of what took place at breakfast and had not asked anyone to approach them."

Jorginho expressed regret over the impact of the situation, stating, "I regret the impact this situation has had on Chappell Roan, Catherine, Ada, and our family." He emphasized that while the security incident did occur as originally described, it was not connected to Chappell Roan as initially believed.

"It was, ultimately, a misunderstanding in that respect, and I am glad to set the record straight," Jorginho added. "As far as I am concerned, this matter is closed."

The security guard involved, Pascal Duvier, later confirmed through his own statement that he was not employed by Chappell Roan and was working on behalf of another individual at the hotel. He described approaching Ada and her mother "with good intentions" due to what he called a "heightened overall security risk" at the time, while expressing regret over the outcome of the encounter.

Chappell Roan had previously denied any involvement in the incident, stating in a March 22 Instagram Story, "No one bothered me. I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel," and clarifying that the bodyguard in question was "not my personal security."

Jorginho, who married Catherine Harding last year, concluded his statement by noting that Chappell Roan had been "understanding and sympathetic to what had happened to our child" during their communications.
