Soulframe's Preludes Pre-Alpha Opens to All This Weekend — Here's How to Play

If you've been waiting to try Soulframe, the fantasy successor to Warframe, now is your chance. Digital Extremes is granting free access to the Soulframe: Preludes pre-alpha for anyone who signs up on the game's website before 11:59 PM ET on July 12.

During TennoCon, the studio traditionally opens the floodgates to new playtesters, and this year is no exception. Once you sign up, you'll be able to explore content showcased in the latest Devstream, including a new boss called the Mendicant Reinbreaker and a sword-whip weapon. Future updates, such as a mount system arriving this fall, will also be available to testers.

Lead designer Scott McGregor admitted the influx is both exciting and nerve-wracking. “It’s a flood of people and you pray the hardware survives, that the servers don’t crash, and that they don’t all get stuck in the same spot or find a bug we missed,” he told Polygon.

Senior community manager Sarah Asselin emphasized the value of fresh perspectives: “What we gain from that is new players giving fresh feedback on all of our systems. I’m always particularly interested in the new-player experience.”

Soulframe: Preludes is currently PC-only. Digital Extremes has not announced a full 1.0 release window.
