In an exclusive interview, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares addressed the growing friction between Spain and the Trump administration. Albares emphasized Spain's unwavering commitment to international law and multilateralism, contrasting with the US approach under President Donald Trump.
"Spain will always stand by the rules-based international order," Albares stated. "We believe in dialogue and diplomacy as the primary tools for resolving conflicts."
The interview, conducted by journalist Redi Tlhabi, covered a range of issues including trade, security, and climate change. Albares reiterated Spain's support for the Paris Agreement and expressed concern over US tariffs on European goods.
"We seek a constructive relationship with the United States," Albares added. "But we will not compromise on our principles."
