Spanish Star Amaia Wows NPR with Folding Chair Flute in Tiny Desk Debut

Spanish singer-songwriter Amaia Romero made history on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series by performing on a flute shaped like a folding chair. The multi-instrumentalist stunned audiences with her inventive instrument, playing 'C'est La Vie' and 'Nanai' from her 2025 album 'Si Abro Los Ojos No Es Real'.

During the set, Amaia seamlessly wove flute solos into the opening songs before shifting to the piano for emotive renditions of 'Zorongo', 'Auxiliar', 'Giratutto', and 'Yamaguchi'. The performance marked the first time a folding chair flute has been featured on the iconic series.

Amaia is scheduled to perform headline shows in Bilbao and Valencia in May, with festival appearances planned for later in 2026. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.
