A lighthearted podcast joke by NFL reporter Dianna Russini about her marriage has taken on a more serious tone after she was photographed staying at the same Arizona hotel as New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel.
Russini, 43, appeared on the Stugotz and Company podcast on February 6, where she shared an anecdote about her mother playfully suggesting her husband, Kevin Goldschmidt, might have a girlfriend.
"You know who lets me know my marriage is falling apart? My mom," Russini joked during the recording. "This is real."
She recounted that her mother visited the home Russini shares with Goldschmidt and their two children, later remarking to her daughter, "He looks good." When Russini agreed that her husband seemed less stressed, her mother quipped, "I'm starting to think he's got a girlfriend, and you know what? Good for him. He looks good, he's successful, his wife's never around. You love this football thing. That's why he looks good."
Russini, who has covered the NFL for over a decade, expressed dismay at the timing of the comments, which came while she was traveling for the Super Bowl. She described her mother's remarks as "so messed up" and admitted they planted a seed of doubt, joking she might call her husband "naked" to "start laying the groundwork."
The podcast clip resurfaced after photos emerged showing Russini and Vrabel—both married to other people—at a hotel in Sedona, Arizona. Vrabel, 50, who has been married to his wife Jennifer for 25 years and shares two adult children with her, quickly dismissed any romantic implications.
"These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable," Vrabel said in a statement to E! News. "This doesn't deserve any further response."
Despite the coach's denial, the juxtaposition of Russini's podcast humor and the subsequent photographs has fueled speculation among sports fans, turning a personal anecdote into an unexpected public storyline.
