Springsteen Ignites Classic Doors Hit in Surprise Collaboration with Densmore

In a memorable fusion of rock legends, Bruce Springsteen joined forces with The Doors' drummer John Densmore for a powerful rendition of the iconic 1967 hit 'Light My Fire'.

The impromptu performance took place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the American Music Honors ceremony held at New Jersey's Monmouth University. The event, organized by the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center, honored several music luminaries, including The Doors.

Springsteen took the stage alongside Densmore, E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt, and the Disciples Of Soul house band to deliver the classic track. With characteristic humor, The Boss addressed the audience afterward, quipping, "There is no one in the room in danger of filling Jim Morrison's leather pants tonight."

Densmore, one of only two surviving original members of The Doors along with guitarist Robbie Krieger, shared a nostalgic connection between the two legendary acts. "The Doors played in Asbury Park, and guess who was in the audience—the Boss!" he revealed during the ceremony.

The collaboration marked a rare musical intersection between Springsteen's heartland rock and The Doors' psychedelic sound, creating a memorable moment for attendees at the annual honors event.
