The Kentucky Derby 2026 brought out a dazzling array of celebrities to Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., on May 2. From singers to actors, the star power was undeniable.
Nicole Scherzinger turned heads in a black-and-white polka dot midi dress paired with an elaborate hat, while Anthony Ramos made a bold statement in a bright purple blazer, pink tie, and blue trousers. Lance Bass and his husband Michael Turchin opted for pastel hues, perfectly fitting the elegant spring atmosphere.
Beyond the fashion, the actual race remains the centerpiece. The Kentucky Derby, the longest running sporting event in the U.S., launches the Triple Crown series, followed by the Preakness Stakes on May 16 and the Belmont Stakes on June 6. This year's top contenders include Renegade (4-1 odds), Commandment (6-1), and Further Ado (6-1). Renegade enters with momentum after winning the Arkansas Derby in March, but history shows only three horses have ever captured both the Arkansas and Kentucky Derbies—Sunny's Halo (1983), Smarty Jones (2004), and one other.
Celebrity attendance at the Derby is a long-standing tradition, with previous years drawing everyone from Queen Elizabeth II to Kim Kardashian. Athletes like Tom Brady and Travis Kelce have also graced the event. Kelce, engaged to Taylor Swift, described his previous Derby experience as "a once-in-a-lifetime" and hinted he'd love to return.
