Stassi Schroeder has always been ride-or-die for goat cheese balls and white wine. But even the strongest reality TV friendships can fray behind the scenes. In a new interview with Marie Claire published April 27, Stassi revealed that her bond with Vanderpump Rules co-star Katie Maloney quietly fractured years ago.
"No one knows that we had a falling out for years," Stassi said. "Now we're rebuilding our friendship after growing in two completely different directions."
The news may surprise even dedicated fans. Aside from fewer social media appearances or public outings together, the rift stayed hidden — a stark contrast to the explosive fights and drink-throwing drama that defined their time on Vanderpump Rules.
Now 37, Stassi is embracing a new chapter. Her upcoming Hulu series House of Stassi, premiering July 29, explores how friendships evolve as friends choose different life paths. Katie also appears on the show.
"I don't see TV shows out there that explore how when you get to a certain age and you all choose different paths in life," Stassi explained. "How that affects your friendships and then how you come back together."
She emphasized the show feels grounded and relatable. "We're starving for something that's not just aspirational or depressing," she said. "This is what it's really like when you grow up."
Filming the series — which also features Stassi's husband Beau Clark, along with Kristina Kelly, Taylor Strecker, Georgianna Aubin, Rob Evors, and Taylor "Teddy" Donohue — turned out to be a healing experience for everyone involved.
"You have to say what you're thinking out loud — otherwise there is no show," Stassi said. "We just got all of our s--t out on the table in a constructive way, being respectful of each other while being open and vulnerable and honest."
Katie, 40, is equally excited. In an April 25 Instagram post, she wrote: "Can't wait for @houseofstassi to premiere this July 29th on @hulu and @freeform. Your girl is officially out of retirement."
