In her first interview since her estranged husband Peter Murrell pleaded guilty to embezzling £400,000 from the SNP, former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon spoke to the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg. Sturgeon stated, "I am not responsible for the crimes that my former husband committed and I'm not going to apologise for somebody else's crimes." She described feeling as though she was "serving a sentence for a crime I did not commit."
Murrell, the former chief executive of the SNP, admitted on Monday to using party funds to purchase luxury goods, jewellery, cosmetics, two cars, and a motorhome. Sturgeon has consistently denied any knowledge of his actions.
