Despite growing rumors that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are tying the knot in Rhode Island, official records show no marriage license has been filed in the town where Swift owns a seaside mansion. TMZ has learned that as of Thursday afternoon, the Westerly Town Clerk's Office had not issued a license for the couple.
Rhode Island House Speaker Pro Tempore Brian Patrick Kennedy confirmed to TMZ that he checked with Westerly's town manager, who stated no marriage license had been submitted before town hall closed for the Juneteenth holiday. Kennedy noted that obtaining a license through the Westerly Clerk's Office is typically a straightforward process with a quick turnaround.
Unlike California, Rhode Island does not offer confidential marriage licenses, but marriage records are protected by state law and are not publicly accessible.
The news comes as activity continues to swell at Swift's Watch Hill estate, where TMZ obtained video showing unusual preparations earlier this week. The gathering sparked speculation of a bachelorette party or pre-wedding celebration.
Swift and Kelce originally planned a major celebration at the nearby Ocean House venue, according to previous TMZ reports. Sources said June 13 was initially selected for the event, with a fireworks show planned, but the celebration was moved to New York after venue details leaked.
Kennedy noted that Swift's estate has recently undergone significant upgrades, making it well-suited for hosting large events. However, for now, the wedding license remains unfiled.
