Taylor Swift Moves to Trademark Her Voice and Image Amid AI Deepfake Surge

Taylor Swift has filed three trademark applications in the United States to protect her voice and image from unauthorized AI use, following years of being targeted by deepfake content.

The applications include one that uses a photo of the pop star performing during her 'Eras Tour', and two featuring audio clips of Swift saying “Hey, it’s Taylor” and “Hey, it’s Taylor Swift” – phrases she used to promote her recent album 'The Life of a Showgirl'.

Swift has been a frequent victim of AI-generated deepfakes, ranging from graphic images spawned by a 4chan challenge to fabricated 'Swifties for Trump' imagery shared by former President Donald Trump.

She follows other celebrities like Matthew McConaughey, who trademarked his catchphrase “alright, alright, alright” to prevent AI from using it.

The UK government recently responded to growing concerns by banning AI firms from using artists' work without permission, though industry figures say more action is needed.
