Taylor Selfridge, known for her appearance on Teen Mom, has revealed that her three-year-old daughter Maya is currently in the midst of her longest and most stressful hospital stay to date. Maya, who shares parents Taylor and The Challenge star Cory Wharton, was born with a rare congenital heart defect called tricuspid atresia.

"This is the longest stay/most stressful one we’ve ever had and that’s saying a lot," Taylor shared in a recent social media update. "She’s getting much better hoping to get out of here soon."

The current hospitalization, which has lasted 16 days, follows Maya's second major open-heart surgery just six months ago. That procedure, known as the Fontan, was intended to improve blood flow. While Taylor reports Maya is "doing good," she also noted her daughter "will need therapy after this."

Cory Wharton reflected on the ongoing challenges in a past statement, writing, "Right now we’re still in the recovery phase which has its own challenges, every time you think things are getting better, a new challenge arises, but we’ll just keep tackling them as they come."

The family's journey began when Maya was diagnosed in utero. Her first surgery in 2022 encountered unexpected complications, leading to a 14-day ICU stay instead of the anticipated 4-5 days—an experience Cory has said left emotional scars.

Despite the arduous path, both parents remain focused on their daughter's resilience. "MAYA’S GOT THIS," Cory has declared, calling his youngest a "warrior." The family is now hopeful for a discharge later this week as they continue to navigate this latest health crisis together.
