Uncapped 18-year-old left-arm spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman has been named in England's squad for the Women's T20 World Cup this summer, following a breakthrough season in The Hundred where she was retained for a record £105,000.
The talented teenager impressed during England's intra-squad matches in South Africa and is one of three left-arm spinners included, alongside Sophie Ecclestone and Linsey Smith. Off-spinner Charlie Dean has been appointed vice-captain to Nat Sciver-Brunt.
Notable omissions include 19-year-old Davina Perrin, who scored a century in last year's Hundred Eliminator, and veteran batter Tammy Beaumont. Leg-spinner Sarah Glenn was unavailable due to a broken finger.
England begins their World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on June 12 at Edgbaston, with warm-up series against New Zealand and India scheduled beforehand.
The T20 squad features 11 players from last autumn's 50-over World Cup, where England lost to South Africa in the semi-finals. Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight are the only remaining members from the 2017 World Cup-winning side.
Corteen-Coleman has taken 17 wickets in 17 matches for Southern Brave in The Hundred and nine wickets in four One-day Cup games for Surrey this season. Her £105,000 retention deal marks a meteoric rise from her £12,500 wage last year.
Alice Capsey will serve as backup wicketkeeper to Amy Jones. Danni Wyatt-Hodge, in outstanding form for Surrey with 258 runs in three innings, will play in her eighth T20 World Cup.
England's group also includes Scotland, Ireland, West Indies, and New Zealand.
